Bioremediation Of Palm Oil Mill Effluent And Lechate Using Algae Based Water Treatment System

Algaetech Sdn Bhd was engaged by MyAgri Nutribio Sdn Bhd to apply Algae Integrated Management System (AIMSysTM) to polish their Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) and composite Leachate and integrates with Algae cultivation system. Algaetech will provide the project management, technology transfer and technical expertise to develop a pilot demonstration solution to manage the waste come from empty fruit bunches (EFB) which is POME and Leachate. Commencing the technology, the waste water from POME and Leachate will be treated using the Algae Based Water Treatment System and the treatment water can be reuse for factory purposes and safety to dispose to the river.
 
Project Objectives
 This project will focus exclusively on establishing a pilot/demonstration AIMSysTM facility at Palm Oil Mill site. The principle objectives are:
 
  • To construct and install the system at the Palm Oil Mill site and water polishing for effluent treatment and beneficiation;
  • Culture value added algae strain to optimize production of biomass as feedstock for renewable energy and determining the capacity and sustainability of output;
  • To treat the waste water that is being discharged from the Palm Oil Mill factory, at the same time help reduce and dispose the ammonia and toxic inside the waste;
  • To create an overall saving for POME & Leachate management cost of at least 10 – 20% after a few months of operation;
  • To make best endeavor to ensure successful application of the Algae Based Water Treatment System and its technology for the project;
Cultivation of suitable micro algae using POME and composting Leachate.

 

KOREA Project

Algaetech International Sdn Bhd and Global Change Climate Situation Room (GCCSR) have been signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Agreement for CO2 Sequestration Project in South Korea.  The breakthrough of this project begins when CEO of Algaetech Sdn Bhd, Syed Isa Syed Alwi went to a plant visit to 980 MW power plants at Bundang, Korea owned by Korea South East Power Co. (KOSEP). He also went to a plant visit at 5800 MW power plant by Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd (KOMIPO) which is one of the largest power plants in the world. In addition, a visit to wastewater treatment plant at Gim Cheong City was engaged. Algae had been used to be the most useful intermediate for waste water treatment process. Ultimately, Algaetech Sdn Bhd has joined venture with GCCSR to commercialized PREMIA Spirulina EX to Korea market.

 

Spirulina and Black Tilapia Fingering Production Centre

Algaetech intended to mass produce Spirulina plantesis and tilapia fish fry in a commercial scale in Sentul, Jakarta for Indonesia, Malaysia and world market. The company has identified suitable place for the project which was formerly an arowana fish farm which has been ideal for the past 7 years. With 70% of the facility and equipments are still intact, the company believed that this venture will generate higher income of revenue over the 5 years operation.
With the annual rapid growth of the world demands for this two market, Algaetech is very has strong confidence level and very optimistic about this success of this venture.

DEVELOPMENT OF ANAEROBIC DIGESTION AND METHANE CAPTURING SYSTEM
Today Algaetech can be considered as one of the main player in the algae bio technology industry.  The expertise from Algaetech Sdn. Bhd. will provide value on the design, development, and deployment of Anaerobic Digestion and Methane Capturing System infrastructure.
 
The proposed project activity and scope of work will include designing, construction and project implementation .Thus the project has as its primary objective establishing the design criteria for a highly sustainable, low cost integrated system for anaerobic digestion and methane capturing. In addition, carbon auditing of the system will be reported on to illustrate the potential to acquire carbon credits.
 
Project Objectives:
This project will focus exclusively on establishing a pilot and demonstration of anaerobic digestion cow manure and methane capturing facility. The principle objectives are:
  1. To construct and install anaerobic digester pit.
  2. Carry out carbon mass balance analysis and determine the potential carbon credits accruing by implementing an integrated system to polish effluent for discharge and utilization of methane as a renewable energy source.
 
Benefits of the Project:
  1. Clean the waste by reducing the ammonia and toxic to make sure it is safe for discharging it in the sea or can be reusable.
  2. Methane gas can be converting into energy using biogas engine and produce an amount of electricity to run the pump and others electrical machinery and equipment.
  3. Reduce the emission of CO2 and methane to open air.
Supply the electricity to operate the farm and also to operate the anaerobic digestion plant.

 

MTDC Project

CULTIVATION AND PRODUCTION OF HAEMATOCOCCUS FLAKES ON COMMERCIAL SCALE IN MALAYSIA
With the high demands of Astaxanthin product derived from Haema Flakes, and lack of supply in the world market (5% supply to cater the world Astaxanthin market demands), Algaetech has intended to take this advantage by becoming one of the main supplier for this product.
This is viable project and can be successfully delivered through Algaetech strong team and backed with strong technology in the production of Haema Flakes. Algaetech is determined to take this opportunity to be a pioneer in the business in Malaysia and to cater for the growing world market demands. Hence, Algaetech intends to start the project as early as May 2011.

  6. To increase company revenues from the marketing the new products and services for local and international market upon the successful project implementation.
  7. To become one of leading players in the industry.
